Shop safe

We decided to do a bit of retail therapy yesterday as my hubby needed new walking shoes.
We headed to the outlet centre in Banbridge where there were several of these sanitizing stations set up with hand gels and masks.
Although it was fairly busy, we felt comfortable. The vast majority of people were wearing masks and it was easy to maintain social distancing.

It's nice that you were able to safely get out. Here, we don't feel safe. Hand sanitizing stations alone don't work if people totally ignore social distancing and mask recommendations.

The beachside cafe where I go to for Sunday breakfast does all the right things. You have to register for contact tracing if you're sitting down, there are markings on the floor (shown in one of my recent PESOs), there are now additional signs to have people line up at the counter.
This morning an older woman in the if-you-get-it-you-will-be-dead-in-a-week demographic came up and stood RIGHT NEXT TO ME, ignoring social distancing, ignoring the floor markings, ignoring the signs to "Queue Here", and ignoring the filthy looks that I kept shooting her. I was close to done anyway and didn't feel like ruining what is supposed to be a relaxing time in my week, so I didn't say anything. Though yes, I know I should have for the sake of whoever she imposes herself on next. Then she went back to her table with hubby where they talked loudly and she coughed frequently without covering her mouth. I swear, "oblivious" does not describe some people.
