I read 'My Brilliant Friend', the first of Elena Ferrante's Neapolitan novels, a few years ago, but to tell the truth I wasn't totally enamoured.
I found it over-written and felt that it may have lost something in translation.
However, when the HBO co-production came on television recently, I just loved it. I've started reading the second book and am quite enjoying it.
Reading used to be a big passion for me and I'm trying to get back to it after being distracted by social media in recent years.

I have the same feeling when I was reading the first book. I thought I will give up and then I find some interest in the last 30 pages :) (the Marriage). Then I bought the second and the third and enjoyed them. I will start the last one soon...
A fine presentation of the book. V.

I recently read "My beautiful friend" and was, like you, not overly enamoured, not enough to continue on with the series anyway. Fine shot you have captured here. V
