Clock tower, Cobh harbour

I found Cobh a poignant place to visit as it was the last place in Ireland which emigrants saw before leaving for a new life in America or Australia. An estimated 2.2million emigrants left here between 1848 and 1950.
It was also the last port of call for the ill fated Titanic as she made her maiden voyage across the Atlantic.

Canada also Mairead, my wife's ancestors left from here in the 1850s. And did well, were bank presidents and company CEOs in three generations.

Ah, that's right... it used to be Queenstown back then. I remember the story of the Irish piper playing Erin's Lament as Ireland receded astern of the ship as recorded in Daniel Allen Butler's version of the story Unsinkable.
This building looks like it dates back to the era that you refer to but is still getting TLC to keep it in good and photogenic shape.
