After dropping the teen off at the bus so he could go back to college, I raced out to the hill of Faughart to catch the sunset.
There was a beautiful sky but it was bitterly cold.
There is a graveyard on top of the hill where Edward the Bruce is buried after he was slain in the Battle of Faughart on October 14, 1318. The plot for his grave
was supposedly given by the Roddy family, who my father claimed were ancestors.
There is also a holy well and the remains of an ancient church on the hill which is associated with St Brigid.
