Today I went to work in a castle. Not quite as exciting as it sounds as I was simply covering a county council meeting.
And Ardee Castle isn't really a castle but a fortified townhouse - the largest of its kind in Ireland.
The original house was built on the site by an Anglo-Norman lord called Roger de Peppard in 1207 while the impressive four story tower house was built by John St Ledger in the 15th century.
It was converted into a courthouse and prison in 1805, and is still used as a courthouse although prisoners are no longer kept there.
