Defenders Row.

Definitely not the best photo in the world, but I'm determined to miss as few days as I can with my PAD this year, so anything which catches my eye is fair game.
Thanks to an imaginative funding scheme, all public capital projects such as housing developments, roads, etc, includes a percentage to be spent on public art.
The plaque was erected on a small housing scheme close to the town centre and tells how the street got its name.
I must admit that I didn't know this piece of local history until today and further research is required as I have no idea who the Defenders of Tallanstown were.

Excellent detail and light in this image. Great perspective as well with the raised figures. V.

perhaps a local incident during the rebellion against English rule at this time...looks like 1798 up in the corner..

I like it...a great plaque all towns should have more to show of it's past.

It looks very old. Nice piece of artwork to commemorate local history. V.

Maybe they were the ones who tried to stop Queen Meabh from nicking the bull. 8^>
It's good to document the little pieces of history dotted around the local area. And of course it opens the opportunity for a subsequent PAD of the surrounding area to put it into context.
