Not a realistic portrait. He should be standing right in the doorway, looking around, licking his paws, looking around some more, looking back inside, giving the vibe of "Hmm, I'm not sure. Will I or won't I? Just keep holding the door for me until I make up my mind..." It's a cat thing. Aside from that though you've picked the right exposure for this with him perfectly lit and the pot in the background deemphasised through shadow.
