Polling in Blunderland

Ireland went to the polls today. Paradoxically it's one of the most important elections
ever and will certainly change the political map yet at the same time our future is
very much in the hands of others since the IMF and EU bailout. One thing for sure is that
Fianna Fail, who have been in power for 61 of the last 79 years, are set to take a
hammering. Whether those who accede to power can do any better remains to
be seen.
I will be spending most of tomorrow, and most likely a good part of Sunday, at the election count centre.
Thanks to the fact that we have a 'celebrity' candidate, Sinn Fein leader Gerry Adams, running
in our constituency, we are expecting the biggest media circus since President Clinton visited Dundalk in 2002.
The Town Hall, where a local amateur drama group are staging a musical based on the current political/economic
crisis called 'Malice in Blunderland', served as a polling station.

Interesting documentary! I wish you luck in both the voting outcome as well as with your journalistic work on this important weekend!V!

You captured the mood so perfectly with these two signs. Looks like Fianna Fail will lead the country no more! "It's getting better all the time!"

I think that this is a cruel but fair (and cleverly spotted) assessment of the state of a lot of Western politics. In NSW we have an election next week for the State legislature. The existing (Labor) government stinks to high heaven but has held power for the last couple of elections on the basis that the alternative would be worse. In its current term it's become clear that the alternative COULDN'T be any worse, and the electorate is now waiting behind the polling booth door with a metaphorical baseball bat. The worst part is that the alternative will have a landslide victory based on a campaign of nothing more than "Hey, at least we aren't them". Put another way, please post me both of those signs when you're done with them, I'm going to put them up in Macquarie Street. May Ireland (and NSW) find its way again...

I love this composition. I wonder if "Blunderland" in this context is a bit of a freudian slip. :)

LOL - I love your shot and the composition to include both signs.
