Raising The Red Lantern

A new shop selling Asian foods and goods has opened across the
road from our office. It welcomes customers in several languages,
showing just how multi-cultural Dundalk, like other Irish towns and
cities, has become in recent years. We have a thriving African
community, many of whom first came to Ireland as asylum seekers,
a lot of young people from Eastern Europe who came here to work
during the Celtic Tiger, while Chinese students come to study
at the local Institute of Technology.
I like cooking and frequently complain about the difficulty in
getting exotic, and sometimes not so exotic, ingredients in supermarkets
so I will be paying a visit to this shop soon.

Nice shot and it says Selamat Datang too in Indonesian. If they have Indonesian food, try it, it's delicious.

That red lantern should attract a lot of attention for them. Nice how you positioned the bright, golden tassels in front of the dark shadow.

A melting pot of cultures brings so much more to society...a pinch of this and a dash of that makes for
a rich and vibrant experience. Very much the case in Vancouver where I live. V

Hope they stock what you want, can't imagine what they wouldn't stock if our local Asian SM is anything to go by.

Well, one may HOPE that the greeting is "Welcome" in all of those languages, in any case. 8^> Very unusual light in this; the shadow of the lantern is very sharp. Another interesting slice of Dundalk life!
