Monday is for leftovers

When I was a kid, Monday's dinner was often made from the leftovers of the previous day's feast.
Sunday's roast would be diced and turned into rissoles or cottage pie. So, I've decided on a guilt-free
leftover policy for Mondays' PADs. If I've got a shot leftover from the weekend, I'll post it on Monday.
I work late on Mondays which makes if difficult to find time to get out with my camera (although had
I taken it with me to the shop across the road today I would have got a real cute shot of a dog
waiting outside, guarding its owner's shopping trolley).
This was taken while driving through the Cooley mountains yesterday in search of gates. It's the kind
of image that gets captioned 'Rush Hour Ireland'. It looks peaceful, remote, and miles from anywhere.
It is, in fact, one of the few roads in the Cooley peninsula which hasn't seen massive development
in recent years, probably because in runs through bogland and forestry. During the past 20 years, and
especially during the boom years of the Celtic Tiger, houses popped up like mushrooms, even on the
narrowest of country lanes. In many cases they were totally out of character with the rural setting,
pretentious red brick mansions which threatened to turn the countryside into a one huge housing estate.

A compelling shot, like the tiny tractor progressing along the country road, and your account is truly interesting. BV

This looks like heaven compared to living in a town of 100,000! Wonderful image and I'm glad you used it today.

I think it is a wonderful idea to do a Monday 'Leftover'. Very clever and maybe even something I might start doing (but will keep the PaD). I understand your dismay, we have watched our prairie turn in to wall to wall houses, all the same style, all bigger than should be allowed considering the power needed to heat and light them. Sad...

I normally wait for the story before commenting but I can take a guess from the file title. I love this shot! Between the darkened sky, the perspective of the road leading off into the distance and the rustic scenery it's very John Constable who may no longer be my favourite artist, but he's still up there. (And granted, you won't find many tractors in his paintings.) But the light and colour here capture the mood wonderfully.
