I have never experienced cold weather like this current arctic spell. I know it has caused misery
for people trying to travel to be with their families (or even to escape their families!) this
Christmas, that it makes the roads dangerous and brings hardship to the elderly and less
well off, and is tough on wildlife, but I love it. The cold air is exhilarating (once I'm wrapped up),
the light is wonderful, and the countryside has never looked so beautiful. With temperatures
hovering around freezing, even the snow has frozen and formed wonderful ice crystals.

This is perfection!!! VERY well captured. I know how exhilarating icy days can be (we get plenty here!), but when it is not the norm it can be very difficult, and wildlife, not adapted as species are here, can really suffer. As can people.

Oh THAT one is brilliant. Wonderful level of detail with just enough DOF. I love the way that the light plays through every structure of the crystal there.

Stay warm and safe, Mairead! I like the angle of the light source and how it fades from left to right.
