Derelict buildings
A lot of buildings like these were developed, ie knocked down and
replaced, during the Celtic Tiger. These ones escaped the property
boom and somehow sum up the mood in Ireland at the moment.
The Samaritans, an organisation which provides a helpline for
those struggling with depression and anxiety, have reported an
increase in calls over the past year, with many people suffering
from stress due to their worsening financial situation.

A moody, sombre image, yet beautiful at the same time. It goes well with your summation of the current situation in Ireland.

Sad times. I hope the new year brings some new energy and jobs into the economy
everywhere.

Same thing happening here. And, I in the midst of it all. I am praying things will change quickly for everyone. A very moody image and really is moving.

We were in Ireland for a week in 1999, and we couldn't believe the many, many, many LARGE buildings that were being built.
You do show a very bleak scene here Mairead... Very sad.

Sad times, strong and impressive capture.

There's something Dickensian about this photo - dark, broody, menacing and full of hardship...great work Mairead

Lovely mood here and hope situation are going to get better soon, (though there's no signs yet). BV

A real mood shot, the vignetting makes it even better. I really hope the bailout helps the situation a little, but a lot of the politicians are saying it won't.

Cold! Great sense of the damp grip of the weather.

I hope the bleakness of it all provides light very soon for all those struggling...

Hopefully there will be an end to these black times. You certainly have presented a depressing mood in this photo. Very well done! V

The snow and the lighting add even more atmosphere to this moody image. "V"
