Stay Away From My Baby

This swan wasn't too pleased to see us when we ventured close to the edge of Stephenstown Pond.
Another dull and damp day but without the incessant rain of yesterday. We took Fudge for a walk
around Stephenstown Pond. I had been worried that he'd try to jump into the water after the
ducks but he actually seemed somewhat scared of them - maybe thanks to the hostile
reception from this swan.

Nice quick exposure time on here; helps with the texture and definition of the feathers and the ripples on the water. Feels like you could almost reach out and touch them.

Wonderful image of mother and young, fudge is right to be wary. v

best to avoid a mother's wrath...even the maturing cygnet must look formidable to Fudge...V

The photo captures the mood well - the learning curve continues for Fudge! ;-)

I love swans, but like geese... they can be mean and nasty. I don't blame Fudge for being intimidated!!

Lovely details in this fiercely-protective parent...

Swans can be very nasty and over protective of "their turf". Don't want anything happening to Fudge :-)

Very protective aren't they!! I think I would have moved fast :)

:) Mother Swan can be rather fierce as she protects her own.
