Went back out to Carlingford today where the final events of Heritage Week were taking
place, including the 'release' of the eight volunteers who had spent the week living as in
medieval times.
This is King John's Castle, the oldest part of which dates back to 1190. It owes its name to
a visit by King John, brother of Richard the Lionheart, in 1210.
While the village centre was crowded, there were few people along
the backstreets leading to the castle which overlooks Carlingford Lough.
Fudge got plenty of socialization during our visit, meeting with other dogs, and
being exposed to medieval knights on and off horseback, vintage tractors, and hundreds
of day trippers.
