The Leaning Tower of Pisa is still breathtaking even though
it's not leaning quite as much as it was when we first saw it
19 years ago. It began to lean even before construction was
finished due to the sandy subsoil of Pisa and numerous attempts
were made to correct its imbalance down the centuries.
A £20million project was completed in 2001 which succeeded in
bringing the lean back to what it was in 1838 and the tower has been
reopened to the public.
