I do like to be beside the seaside

I've lived all my life beside the sea and I can't imagine living inland.
I love the wide expanse of the ocean, the ebb and flow of the tide, the
smell of the salt water in the air, the cry of the seabirds.
I was faced with a few choices this evening: I could have gone shopping
as the cupboards are bare, I could have planted the flowers I bought
in the garden centre or I could make the most of the nice weather
and see if I could get any photos.
So, I ended up at Shellinghill, one of the nicest beaches in north Louth.
The day trippers had gone home and it was wonderfully peaceful.
I walked out in the ebbing tide to get a picture of this boat, enjoying
the still-warm water and the sand under my feet.

I was born inland ... a resident always of the Canadian prairies, however I do envy your closeness to the sea ... So I enjoy this photo and especially the perspective that you have chosen to feature... ~V~

I love your perspective here Mairead. I have always wanted to live next to the ocean, but......
This is terrific! ~

It's nice to live in the touristy places when all the tourists go. I couldn't live away from the coast either. I need to do the feet in the water thing, badly. :o)

Wonderful perspective and composition. The light is superb. I like being near the ocean too. There is nothing like an early morning walk along the shore. "V"

Shopping and planting can wait - a shot like this couldn't - I'd make the same choice :-) Great job.

You made the best choice Mairead....A beautiful image......Although my sea is different to yours(being an Island with no daytrippers) I wouldnt want to live anywhere else and have the same feelings as you...BV

I'm so happy that you decided to starve the family and kill the plants for this wonderful photo! I'm jealous that you got to spend some time at the beach with your toes in the sand! This is a wonderful photo, great color and light!

You did great, and got a beautiful shot of this boat in the loveliest light of evening. I feel as you do about the sea, but may as well be landlocked most of the time. It is in my blood, and that of my ancestors. Seeing the ocean puts things in perspective, the salt air is healing, the sounds are eternal. V

I fully agree with your sentiments Mairead, the sea is like a magnet for many.
Lovely shot too.
