05-OCT-2009

It was noticeably cooler this morning when I drove my son to school - a chilly 8 degrees. Soon it will
be time to wrap up in gloves and scraves. But the days are still bright and sunny.
Normally I see wonderful photo opportunities when I'm rushing to work but this morning, as I'm
on holidays this week, I was able to drive around for a while. Came upon a group of horses
standing near a gate. They were quite pleased to see me. I liked how the sun was catching their breath in the cool crisp air. There were a lot of little flies about so I guess it's still not particularly cold - I cloned some of them out
as they didn't look good against the horses' hide.

Perfect early-fall...soon there'll be frost on the ground too. Too soon!

A wonderful shot of this beautiful creature in October's coolness. You just want to reach out and touch him!

Great shot, the horse's breath really brings the scene alive. V

Looks like the beginning of a beautiful day. The horse might have been hoping for an apple? A lovely composition, Mairead. V!

Nice photo of the horses. It is getting cold here, too, almost like winter overnight. V

Nice photo!! I see that they are beginning to grow a winter's coat! Nice work with the flies, too bad we can't erase them for real, sometimes. :)

They were looking for a sugar lump or a carrot.

September can be such a contradictory month with us here: some days like summer, even better than summer, others bearing the oncoming chill of days to come. You've captured this perfectly here.

Cool breathy shot :o) Won't be long before we have the misty and frosty mornings :o))
