After a disappointing July and August, we are enjoying an Indian Summer.
Bright sunny days, clear blue skies, and heat to warm our bones. While not
quite compensation for a disappointing and wet summer, it eases the passage
into the dark days of autumn and winter.
Got a phone call from some friends today to say they had a glut of homegrown
tomatoes. I was only to happy to pay a visit, to sit and chat in their beautiful garden,
and to relieve them of their bountiful crop.
The irony, of course, (or is it irony at all...see 'You Shall Know Our Velocity' by Dave
Eggers for a great discourse on irony) is that they live in the town and we live in
the country. But they are keen gardeners and we, unfortunately, aren't.
