One of the joys of being a grandparent is attending grandparents’ day in school.
The children are delighted to show the grandparents their artwork, their singing prowess, their ability to read, to draw, to recite, and to introduce them to that very important person in their lives: their teacher.
The grandparents, for their part, can enjoy these visits far more than the ones they made as parents, when they were often concerned by time constraints, or pre-occupied with anxiety about academic performance or social pressures on their offspring.
At the end of this enjoyable session, children and adults joined in singing songs that were newly learned by the children and old favourites with the adults.
