no.12 : Inis Meáin

An aerial shot, taken with my first ever digital camera, of the middle island of the three Aran Islands off the west coast of Galway

I think the following lines by Seamus Heaney from his poem Lovers on Aran typify this image:

"..................did Aran rush
to throw wide arms of rock around a tide
That yielded with an ebb, with a soft crash?

Did sea define the land or land the sea?
Each drew new meaning from the waves' collision.
Sea broke on land to full identity."

Did sea define the land or land the sea... What a great question. Beautiful land and sea.

It’s a charming photo, well cropped, with a natural sharpness and a richness of curved lines, which enhance the nice wilderness of the coast profile.

Wow! I've got to go there - some friends moved there a couple of years ago and I keep meaning to go.

Nothing wrong with a coolpix. I still use mine (990) sometimes too.
This is a beautiful overview. Excellent. And lovely words.

Just love waves colliding with the land. Probably the most fascinating thing man hasn't invented.
