A recent event in Dublin saw the Irish hosting of a heat of the Sky Portrait Artist of the Year competition. Portraits were painted of many sitters, some of whom were celebrities. At the Dublin event I spotted the very well-known broadcaster, Joan Bakewell, who is involved in presenting the tv programme that will be based on this competition. Indeed, a most interesting portrait of her was produced that Sunday in Dublin. Also there, doing a “courtesan on the couch” sitting was the actress and author Pauline McLynn (Mrs. Doyle of Fr. Ted).
There were many other artists involved on the day also. Because it was a public event there were many keen observers and photographers recording what was happening. The following images are my personal record of the event.
