On April 11, 2009 a new volcanic fissure emerged on the southwest slope of Volcan La Cumbre above Cabo Hammond on Isla Fernandina in the Galapagos. All these photos were taken the evening of April 19, 2009 from the S/S Mary Anne or from a panga in the waters off Cabo Hammond where the lava entered the sea. These photos covered a period of 4 hours. Lava flow from this fissure ended about one week after the photos were taken.
