Summer Thunderheads

We had a very bad weather day in this area today in this photo, to the left, you can see the drum shaped anvil of the supercell that spawned a tornado in this area...numerous tornado reports and much damage. A tornado from the thunderhead on the left destroyed part of Stoughton Wisconsin (The town where my Dad was born). Others hit Spring Green Wisconsin, and Viola Wisconsin...and many rural areas...causing many injuries, widespread damage and regrettably a fatality in Stoughton.

The image is grand, but the story is tragic. Did you know that well over 90% of tornados occur in the US?

But wow, look at those clouds! Save this shot, you can use the sky for boring winter skies later on!

My grandson lives in Sturtevant and he thought he heard his town's name when he was passing the (constantly on) tv when the weather report was being broadcast and he called me really panicked. He stays alone during the day, and though he is 14, he was pretty frightened and no adult in the house...
great photo; I love photographing light on clouds.

Oh man.. sorry to hear about it, but glad you guys are okay. Seems this has been a bad year here too, for these things.
