Kick Off Of The PCT 2638 mile Hiking Season As 700 Plus Former and Hiker Hopefuls Of The PCT Gather At Lake Morena Near Mexican Border In Calif. This Year " Eric Ryback " who did the PCT in 1970 attended and gave slide show of his trip. He was a mentor to man6y of the early hikers of the PCT including myself and his book " High Adventures " launched a generation of backpackers in the 70's.... Great event and the best group of hikers on the west coast in one campground,,,bar none....

Hey Andy Drollinger, I believe I (still) have one of your original pack frames/pack from your pre- A-16 days. I was living in San Diego at the time. It would have been early '60's when I was in Boy Scouts. I used it until the Kelty A4 came out. I also have one of the original Gregory packs when Wayne opened up his shop next to the Mssion Valley A-16 store. (Originally Wayne Gregory just provided a down laundry service for down sleeping bags). Bill Ellison

To whom ever gets this, mad mote in particular I did Moreno Lake a few years ahead of you. As a Boy Scout I camped for a week there in 1944. The 'Buffalo Soldiers' on border patrol were housed there at the start of the war. You like old things. I am the founder of Adventure16. My contribution to backpacking is the first padded hip carry system, along with the first light dome tent with seperate rain fly and the first water bag.
