Optimus 00 is a simple Kerosene design stove that would outpreform most stoves in it's " Weight class" in the 50's/60's/70's ,, untill the MSR's came on and changed the cooking scene forever. The Optimus 00 was " Jim Whitaker's Favorite Stove thru most his career. It's large cap. tank would allow quite long burn times for melting snow in winter and it was stable with larger pots. ( This stove was given to me by Long Distince hiker " Lindy" who got it from " Brice Hammock". Kero stoves was not popular here in the states, but are quite popular in Nepal..... ( The Svea 123 was the most popular " Backpacker" solo stove of the 70's for sure and with one filling ,would burn an hour. Simple design burning white gas ( which is a thing of the past) and now uses coleman fuel..
