Bruce Orgel Up On Stampede Line Pushing Snow With His Cat

Bruce was a Rainier High School Athelete, and logged in " Vail" in the 60's and 70's till coming to the BNSF. Thirty Years on BNSF running Cranes And Machinery. Shot here is of Martin Siding on Stampede Line which is the route from Auburn to Ellensburg over the Cascades and through the shorter " NP Tunnel" which is only 2 miles long instead of 7 miles like the GN tunnel.

I know that curve well. Just up the hill from Bruce is Meany Lodge, a cabin owned by The Mountaineers. I went skiing there a few times in the mid-60s. When the Stampede Line re-opened in the 90s, I snowshoed to Martin from the Sno-park lot and got there a few minutes before the second eastbound train on the line came out of the tunnel. Sweet memories.
