1939 " Union 76 Gas " Post Card Of St. Helens And Spirit Lake

In May of 1980 and top 1600 feet of Mountain blew off and changed this scene forever. As a kid we would camp on this lake, eat huckleberries and then in return, feed the bugs with our blood!! I climbed this peak in summer of 1979 before in blew. It was the " Mt. Fuji" of the Northwest..

Renting a canoe from old Harry Truman; then while out on the lake tipping it so that my buddy and I both fell in the water. We were wet but had a great time..

I was just looking at this remembering one time when we were really young sledding (with our pants as we had no sled!) and you took off further up b/c you were going to climb this, Monte. Dad made me chase after you to tell you, "Not today." But your day came and with every other mountain you could find along with it!
