Hello All,
I have owned a ring oval bought new in Palo Alto in late '75 or early '76. it served me well for many years and is a very dear friend. two years ago a young couple borrowed it and with good intentions (no pun intented) washed it after the baby had an accident. needless to say the floor delaminated. My question is Does anyone know who could replace the floor in my tent. TNF won't touch it and offered me 50% off of a new VE-25 which I bought. Don't get me wrong it is a great tent but I don't like it. My Oval is my tent. If one of you gents would be willing to part with a ring Oval from your collection I am sure we could agree on it's value. I am going back to the BWCA in July and would love to return with my or a replacement Ring Oval. Regards to all, Chuck32

13 pounds total including fly. they are "works of art" at this point.
The aluminum circles that protrude thru the tent are prone to breakage:
several of them on my tent have been replaced by steel "key rings", one
of them under "use conditions" in the Sierra. I use mine frequently
is an ideal "motorcycle touring" tent: it is found on the back of my BMW GSA
on frequent occasions.

Deems Burton, I am inquiring as to what you paid for your Oval Intention North Face tent? I have found one online that is a brand new, never used item that is for sale to the highest offer. Email me at clayongarypalmer@yahoo.com ASAP

Hey all!

I have a North Face Oval Intention...I think originally purchased in 1975.

It is MINT CONDITION. Looks like it was never used. The original stakes are not even scratched. Complete with Instruction Manual and Care instructions.

I don't really want it, and am interested in selling. If you're interested email me at bryanlott@gmail.com

thanks

To the guest who posted on Chistmas 2007, did you try getting a warranty replacement? My ex wife washed my OI many years ago and when she stuck it in the dryer, all the waterproofing delaminated. I sent it in to TNF, and they sent me a brand new Pole Sleeve Oval for free! That was a good six years after I had purchased the OI. North Face warranty rocks!

I.ve just picked up what I am told is an 'Oval 25' . It looks to be in excellent condition. used only twice and deemed to warm by it's first owner. No name on the outside of the tent, but a tag that says 'The North face' and another tag that says ' Made in the USA' the tent is approx. 5 feet by 9 feet. I have 2 poles, for the 5 pole tent ,that measure feet inches but I am missing the other 3 poles. Can someone help me out with what there lenghts are... The 2 poles i am missing I guess are around 15 feet 8 inches and they 'V' together on each of the short ends. The other one is about 8 foot 6 inches. Of the ' OI's' what is the name of this particular tent?

I think about 8 - 9 pounds if I remember correctly. This was my first tent... poles eventually snapped on the ends and it started to leak very badly after about seven years of constant use. I miss it. Nothing else compared in the day, except maybe the Rivendell Bomb Shelter tho a totally different kind of tent, but still unique.

Great picture of a great tent! Verne: Glad to know someone else is collecting the old U.S. made North Face Tents! I have 3 of the O-Is, plus the Pole Sleeve Oval, all the VE-designs, North Star, Dandelion, etc.--love to get a Morning Glory! Also big on the early Sierra Designs tents!

Beautiful tent, but I'll bet it weighs a ton!
