Forest Service " Management Flaws"

Silver Falls, Entiat Valley, Washington..

I received a 75.00 ticket for not displaying my park pass in my " Open" Jeep. Reason is Forest Service keeps no records of who bought which pass and if your's is stolen, you are out the current price of a pass. The funds for the ticket don't even go to the Forest Service , butr some crime victim fund. Our government is really not doing a very good job managing our Forest Service Or Park Srvice. ( Understatement of the year....)

I had mine stolen the day i purchaced the pass at Bagbey hot springs. Talk about a failed sheriff's office and the inability of the USFS to police their property. You can go there any day of the week and find multiple car windows broken. I have been broken into twice here. Why do I need a forest pass when the local and federal law cant keep this area safe?

In one way you are very lucky. There are almost no places in England where you can drive a vehicle off the road. Government departments and local councils have an obsessional hatred of four wheel drive vehicles.

I think that the passes I used to buy down here (Southern California) had a sticker on the bottom that could be used for open vehicles. It's been a while since I bought one though. I had to buy a Northwest Forest Pass when I went up there, so it became cheaper to buy a National Parks Pass with the Golden Eagle sticker.

I've been able to plead a case to them and have a ticket removed before. Obviously, you purchsed the pass prior to the issuance of the ticket. If you go to the forest service office who wrote the ticket, are nice to them, and explain the circumstances, they may be understanding.

Bummer that these passes are even required. Damned spineless politicians.

Monte,

Wal*Mart has a much bigger budget than USFS and WalMart is NOT run for the benefit of the timber companies.
