These were made between 1939 -1953 when the Embury Lantern Co. folded and sold out to Dietz,, who then moved the manerfactering to Mexico in 1956 and then to Hong Kong in 1982. This is a " Cold Flame Design which is twice as bright as Hot Flame Designs. ( Never use "ANYTHING " that says 99% or 100% parafin as you will only ruin your wick. Best to use LampLight Farms Standard Kerosene which is clear or K-1,, or ALdadin Lamp Oil, or best of all is a Kerosene subsitute called Klean Heat,, which has no oder at all. ) These lanterns were made of tin , but in WWII shortages of tin made them use " Terne " plated steel which needed to be painted to last outdoors.
