Got to Echo Lake Summit on a Sunday, store and P.O. Closed. Thumbed to this place of mass people and and ate a " All You Can Eat Seafood Dinner " at Golden Nugget" for 2.50. Sleep in trees behind the nugget,, wake up and eat breakfast for .99 cents. Then gambled with my last few nickels of the 5.00 I had came to town with and one my last nickel,,, won my five bucks back on a nickel machine!! Great memories leaving " South Lake Tahoe " a winner. In the early PCT days, there were no real, est. trail angels ( like Saufley's Or Dinsmore's ) so the few hikers I had talked to all were talking about the cheap eats in the caseno's ... Trail Magic alive and well in 1977!! ( Note a few of the names of people on the " Billboards " at the time,,, and a few of the cars,,,, )
