Hiking The " Gordon Stuart Trail ",, Entiat River To Dompke Lake

Gordon came to Lake Chelan in 1924 to become a trapper at age 20 and was taken under mountain man " A.L.Cool's wing to learn the trade. Cool arrived at Dompke Lake in the mid 1890's. When A.L. Cool died in a cabin fire in 1941,, Gordy took over the resort and all the trapping rights up the valley toward Emerald Park, over Milham Pass and down to his cabins on the Entiat river.. Emerald Park just below Milham Pass is rugged but nice and was a favorite hunting spot of both Gordy's and Cool's. Also to grind up to the saddle and down down into Mirror Lake is today only for the hearty as the hiker only trail is nearly gone from lack of use and slides/avalanches.. The beauty of this hike is as stunning as anything your can hike in the lower 48 and other hikers are quite rare... Enjoy these photos of the roughly 30 mile hike of Gordy Stewart's Domain,, ( Gordy Stewart passed away in early 1985 and was one of the last true mountain men in this area)))
