Plaque located on the old church grounds. A loose translation goes like this:

So named by the Bonnieux people since the construction in the 19th Century of a new church at the bottom of the village.
The old church (or high church or Saint Sauveur church), culminates at 429m in altitude.
There is a Romanesque part to the east. In the 14th Century, the popes were in Avignon, Bonnieux was a papal enclave.
The church grew in the 15th Century in the Provençal Gothic style, and in the 18th Century.

The primitive entrance is at the south gate and has the advantage of protecting the faithful of the mistral[?].
It has a floral bow and a tympanum with a carved eagle. The Virgin Mother on the bell tower dates from 1865.

In recent years, the association for the restoration and safegarding of Old Aegis and the municipality have implimented programs to restore the walls,
the vault, the floors and two chapels, that of the Ascension and that of the deceased.

The church also contains an 18th Century organ with an exceptional character (it was used until 1939).
