"Naiyn Reesan Shahier Lahore diyan - there is no city like Lahore" Lahore is a city of Sufi Saints and Emperors. It reached its full glory under the rule of Mughal emperor Akbar (1524 to 1752). Akabar made Lahore his capital for 14 years (1584 to 1598). During his reign, Lahore Fort was built on the foundations of a previous fort and the city was enclosed within a red brick wall boasting 12 gates. The last of the great Mughals, Aurangzeb (1658-1707), gave Lahore its prestige with famous monument, the great Badshahi Masjid and added the Alamgiri gateway to the fort.

Today Lahore is a provincial capital of Punjab and a vital center of economics and culture. Its bustling streets provide a unique mix of tradition and modernization. Lahorities are generous, hospitable, and well known for their liveliness. In this pictorial, I tried to capture the historical Lahore and a glimpse of modern Lahore.
