One Sunday morning many years ago, when my wife and I were visiting Guelph, we went for a walk downtown.
And came upon this horrific scene. Here's what we were able to piece together:
Now you have to imagine a street off to the right, heading straight for Jack's; a T-bone situation, actually.
And that street was a very steep hill, culminating at the level that Jack's and we were on.
The young man driving the car, we later learned, was suicidal, and chose this method for ending his life.
He must have been travelling at at great rate of speed to accomplish his goal of flying into Jack's at the second storey level.
The impact was at the "Jack's" spot on the sign. Had he been going any slower, he probably would have
crashed through Jack's window. As it was, his short but deadly flight carried him into the level of Jack's sign.
