Cherimoya

Best viewed at original size

At a farmers' market in Kona, Hawaii, we encountered a fruit we didn't know existed: cherimoya.
The texture of the flesh is somewhere between a just-ripe pear and an apple, and the taste is hard to describe, but delicious.
You cannot cut a neat slice of cherimoya, because the knife will inevitably encounter one
of the extremely hard (poisonous) seeds, which are distributed randomly throughout the flesh.

Here is more info about the cherimoya.
