Motivated by the facts that (a) I had never tried them; (b) they looked like they might make an interesting photo; and (c) although they are quite a bit more expensive than chicken eggs but were on sale, I decided to try some quail eggs. If you've not tried them, perhaps I'll save you some time and money: they taste pretty much the same as chicken eggs, but it akes half a dozen or so of them to make the equivalent of a chicken egg. They are small--about one inch (2.5 cm) and colourful in a blotchy, not-very-appetizing way-- and are difficult to peel when hard-boiled (about 5 minutes) because of their small size and the propensity of the shell to come off in very small pieces.
