The boom in storage position. If you use two pieces of pipe for the boom, separating them helps when it comes to storage -- one section can rest on part of the base, and the other can rest on the counterweight, with a total footprint of 18" x 18" (45 cm x 45 cm).
In order for this to happen, however, you must have enough play in the hold-down brackets (i.e., the holes in the brackets must be slightly oversize).
