Surprising thought it may be to those in lower latitudes, we have to start thinking about fall already.
Last night the first overnight frost was predicted, so we did the annual covering of tomatoes and other garden
plants that might be susceptible. It paid off: This morning it was -4C but the tomatoes were fine.
Pretty much every year, we have an overnight frost (perhaps two) followed by a couple or more weeks
of fine weather, which we call Indian Summer. Insofar as long-range weather forecasts can be believed,
we can look forward to the same this year.
