Crows 0731

The loud squawking first caught my attention as I was putting my groceries into the car.
At first I thought it was a territorial dispute: this spot is mine, so bug off.
But as I watch what ensued over the next several minutes, I realized the the mother crow (right) was chasing away her own fledgling.
The latter seemed to expect mama to share her morsel of food, but mama was determined to teach the young one to fend for itself.
Eventually, mama gave in and passed a morsel to the young ones. Tough love, indeed.
