Soddy window

Due to the lack of locally available building materials on the Canadian Prairies, many settlers' first houses were built from pieces of sod. Of course, those houses were called soddies. This is a re-creation of one, in the Western Development Museum in Saskatoon, Saskatchewan.

Nice shot of some Canadian history. It looks like the sod would be a good insulator.
