Maverick Junction

Big Bend National Park, Texas

Another crazy looking landscape at Maverick Junction. There are many animal tracks in the sand, like a critter highway. :)

Thanks to everyone who asked where I've been this past week. We had some crazy weather here in Texas. We're fine, but there are a lot of people who aren't.
We lost power for days, but still had water thankfully. We had to put our refrigerator contents outside (where it was 9F and 12F and 19F each night) and we cooked on our gas grill.
Many homes in this part of Texas don't have central heating. For us, air-conditioning is what we use 9 months of the year. Older homes are built on piers and don't have insulated floors.
Otherwise, pipes are in the attic because we don't have basements. Coldest weather ever in history in Galveston and 130 years for Houston.
And btw... farewell to my garden...

I’m glad you are safe. I’m so sorry about your garden. It seems so lovely.
The formation reminds me of a camel. Really cool. V

It's so good to hear you are in relatively good shape, we are finished up with two weeks of below 0°f for now. I like Maverick Junction!

We have followed the weather news in Texas, pleased to hear that you are OK.
You may be surprised by what does manage to survive in your garden after this, fingers crossed.

That looks like a turret for a castle! Hope your recovery from the disaster is quick. My brother's family in Dallas experienced some catastrophic damage. They are OK.

I like that you have three different types of rock formations in this image. "V"
Glad that you're doing ok. Sorry about your garden.

certainly a mixed bag of rocks here...encouraging that you rode out the storm's challenges...one can imagine that Texans would not often face such a dire situation..

That is an unusual landscape. Sorry to hear about your garden, but thankfully you survived the power outages and didn't lose food.
