Tuff Formations

Big Bend Ranch S.P. Texas

Some of the larger holes have scorch marks inside from old campfires. One of the smaller holes has a Creosote bush growing like a potted plant.

We accidentally found this place while 4-wheeling near Tapado Canyon, 30 years ago.
It isn't on any State Park maps, but that isn't surprising. There are many sensitive sites - geologic and anthropologic in Big Bend Ranch
which are held in secret for preservation reasons.

This is so interesting, I can see where parts might be useful for campfires, since this formation was borne in fire, a camp fire would probably be OK.

It looks like a most unusual rock formation.

I really like the idea of stumbling across little known spots such is the case here.

there's a hint of a troglodite village here....cool vantage point to line up the curves of the slopes..
