June 1

Sugar Land, Texas

Between rain showers, I took a break from work to drive down to the levee and check on the flooded river.
The Brazos crested today as an all time record high, but thankfully we had raised our levees by two feet after
the last hurricane in 2008. The water is almost at the top and now it will go down... hopefully.
We pay levee taxes here and the city is honeycombed with them. There are 3 levees between my house and the river,
so our house is safe as long as we don't get a ton of rain because the storm sewers and bayous can't flow out to the river.
Meanwhile, the flood waters have displaced all of the deer, wild hogs, and coyotes up into our yards.

I'm glad you're safe at least. And I suppose it DOES give you a chance to shoot some different fauna. Still, I can understand what it would be like to watch the water lapping the levee.

You have lovely grounds and that deer couldn't have chosen a better spot. Love the Spanish moss. Sure hope the rain stops soon, Lynn. Vote.

I hope you stay safe Lynn... nice to have some rain, but not at the expense of the
damage too much can do. v

I thought you were going to say this is a nice rural scene as it look quiet and calm like Irene said. I wouldn't like the idea of coyotes and hogs in my garden though, but I guess they are just hungry and looking for food!

It Looks so harmless, peaceful - but I know that this impression is misleading.

What a lovely capture, but not good how the deer happened to be there. V.

I hope the rain stops soon and the levees do their job. I guess the bright side is the animals. V
