Halfway Up the Levee

Sugar Land, Texas

The Brazos river is finally receding.
This picture is from last week when the river peaked at halfway on the first levee.
Normally, these horses reside in the pasture on the right side of the photo.
But the pasture flooded and the horses went to higher ground on the top of the grassy levee.
We have a series of levees and flood gates between our house and the river and we
pay annual Levee Tax to maintain them.

I'm sure the levee has proven its worth....I imagine it was a difficult time during the flood.

Really shows how high the water is. Nice the horses have a safe place to go. We could use much of that water. "V"

That is both amazing and scary. I sure hope your taxes are being put to good use! V.
