81st st Fishing Pier on the 6th Anniversary of Hurricane Ike
which devastated Galveston, and the Houston area including my town of Sugar Land.
This fishing pier holds a terrifying tale of 3 people who ignored the evacuation warning and underestimated the 25 foot storm surge.
They rode the storm out, all night. In the morning, nothing was left of the pier except the upstairs.
The sea ran right through the lower floor.
They were rescued from the roof by the National Guard. Below is the video of their rescue.
