April 12

Houston, Texas

Better in ORIGINAL SIZE
Drive-by shot from the bridge over the Houston Ship Channel. Not bad considering Tom was driving 55 mph.
Houston is one of the busiest ports in the U.S.
The Coal terminal is on the lower right. Gasoline refineries line the channel too.
You can see a large grain/rice elevator on the left, behind the storage domes.

On the horizon, you can see the SAN JACINTO MONUMENT.
The world's tallest war memorial stands, honoring all those who fought for Texas' independence.
Standing at 570 ft tall (12 ft taller than the Washington Monument), the observation deck in tucked beneath the 220 ton Republic of Texas Star.

Very interesting, as I've never been to Houston nor seen too many pictures of the city. I didn't know it was so industrialized or about that enormous monument. Excellent for a drive by shot, and thanks for sharing! V.
