Day 6 ~ Floodgates

Sugar Land TX

Another rainy, dreary day today. Because it is perfectly flat here, we have levees, bayous,
detention lakes and floodgates to help control water and prevent serious flooding.
This type of infrastructure becomes especially important in hurricane season, which runs from June through November.

Oh yes...I remember when I did contract work down there when it rains it floods but it does dissapate quickly. Looks a tad foggy!

It was foggy here with ice yesterday. The fog has its own beauty though.

Protective. I have seen those save a child from getting sucked in.

Great find! I had not seen a floodgate before. I love the fog, it may not be a nice day but it photographs well 8-)

Nice thinking. A clever and good choice. Wonderful with the fog.

At least Houston has a way of dealing with the water, most of south Louisiana is just a flat plate with hardly anything to hold or channel the water.

How clever, Lynn. And a lovely, lovely moody shot. V
