Samburu National Reserve May 22, 2013

Morning comes pretty early on safari to be sure, by 8:00 AM we were on the game run, anxious to find lots of animals! Today we saw lots of 'little things' and lots of birds: Helmeted vulturine guinea fowl, giraffe, lesser kudu, dik dik, rock hyrax, waterbuck, yellow neck spurfowl, did dik, jack rabbit, white fronted bee eater, martial eagle, baboon, secretary bird, white bellied bustard, pale chanting goshawk, zebra and ostrich After the game run, we visited a Samburu Village out by Archer's Gate. This, I am sure, is an authentic village, you can tell the people really do live here, unlike the Maasai village we visited in 2006 which looked deserted - or the Zulu village we visited in 2003 which looked staged. I would recommend this visit for anyone wishing to see the colourful culture of the semi-nomadic Samburu people.
