Made of black granite, and set off by the dazzling white marble coffin and the life size angels, this is perhaps the most beautiful tomb in Recoleta. The angel with the open wings seems to soar to the heavens and lift the immortal soul of the “departed” while leaving his earthly body in the coffin. Two Guardian Angels standing at the doors seem to watch invisible spirits rising heavenwards. All the sculptures were commissioned in France and then shipped to Buenos Aires.
